Lock Ridge Park and Furnace Museum
Lock Ridge Park is a 59-acre park in Alburtis with the remains of a coal-burning iron furnace at the center. In the spring, the park is filled with bluebells in bloom, but it’s beautiful the rest of the year as well. The park is perfect for a picnic, as you can spread out your blanket near the furnace and admire its castle-like stone walls or reserve the 81-seat pavilion, which includes a grill and restroom, for a larger group.
The park has baseball and softball fields, and there are also trails which run through the open and wooded sections of the site. You can even go fishing in Swabia Creek, which cuts through the area.

Fish from either the shore or the fishing dock, but make sure to have your Pennsylvania fishing license handy.
If you’re done fishing but not ready to go home, Gring’s Mill has plenty of other activities. Amenities include tennis courts, a softball field, a volleyball court, horseshoe pits, and quoits. Visit Gring’s Mill at 2083 Tulpehocken Rd. The park is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
