In all the excitement of your first ski trip, it may be tempting to rush off and buy all sorts of skiing equipment and apparel. However, we’d advise taking it a bit slower. If you have warm winter clothing, gloves, and thick socks, that may be all you need. Call or look up the ski lodge for the mountain you’re planning on going to most offer equipment rentals. This can help cut down on cost and also take the pressure off finding equipment that works best for you. If you really want to buy equipment, you should be fine with mid- or low-tier brands.
Many people think that because it’s cold out, they don’t need as many fluids. This is a dangerous assumption. Skiing is a work out just like any other sport, and your body will need regular fluids. Just because you may not be sweating heavily doesn’t mean your body doesn’t need hydration. Bring along a water bottle or sports drink so you can avoid dehydration.
